Extracurricular Experience

National Engineering Design Competition

November 2016 - Present

Every year in high school, I participated in what is called the National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC) from our school's engineering club, that competes in annual competitions hosted by an organization called MESA. The goal of the project is to create a device, primarily using Arduino or Raspberry Pi, that can help one's community in a certain way, and than pitch the product in a Shark Tank like setting. This experience gave me a lot of technical and leadership skills. Our team's most successful year was when we created a Vape Smoke and Chemical Dectector, that relays information alerts to school administrators from our app. We implemeneted our sensors into our school bathrooms to catch students vaping, and we were able to compete all the way to the State Championships held in UCLA.

Music Director, Teacher, Composer, and Performer

2010(Piano)-2016(High School)-Present

I've been playing piano for about 10 years, but when I began high school, I expanding my musicianship into different activities. I've gained experience as a music director for theatre, jazz pianist and percussionist, choir accompanist, club president for my Music Performance Club, worship leader and private piano and music theory teacher. I also have a lot of experience with competing in competitions, composing, arranging and orchestrating sheet music, film scoring, and using Digital Audio Workstations and Notation Softwares such as Sibelius, Logic Pro X, and Cubase. An example of my experience with this is when I attended a 12 week Film Scoring Program taught by the Berklee College of Music. I was able to work with and meet some of the greatest film composers in the world!

Other Clubs and Sports

September 2016-Present

I've participated, and taken officer positions in many other clubs and sports throughout highschool. I am on varsity tennis and cross country, and I have been actively participating in Engineering (MESA), Music Performance, Speech and Debate, E-Sports Club, DnD Club, Chess Club, Theatre, and National Honors Society.

Key Skills

  1. Able to effectively communicate and lead a group to complete tasks.

  2. Technical skills, I know my way around a computer.

  3. Able to think analytically, and solve problems in a systematic, logical way.

  4. I have the ability to teach people new things in an effective yet approachable way, which is really useful for communcation and group settings.

  5. I'm very hospitable. Even though in group projects I tell people what to do, I present myself as a kind person that people can come to for help. In my opinion, this is a skill that is underappreaciated, and being kind can really shine with productivity and success.
